Additional signed letter from West's husband Harry Maxwell McPherson on his stationary with note "We love your columns | Max | (Mr. "West")" laid in, along with publisher's "Notes from the Editors" pamphlet.

West was, among other things, second cousin to Richard Nixon, for whom Safire worked as an adviser and speechwriter.
