Bound in olive cloth and three-quarter leather. Illustration of a wolf stamped in gold on cover. Lettering stamped in gold on spine. Corners and head/foot of spine are rubbed. Dampstaining to front and back board along fore-edge and some of the cloth is starting to fray/come loose from the leather corners. Black and white illustrations throughout and several full-color plates, including a frontispiece of the red wolf of the Lower Mississippi Valley. Binding is sound and corners are square. Some spots on fore-edge. Pages are clean and unmarked.
This copy is inscribed by author Stanley P. Young to Edward F. Gruver: "with best wishes and all kinds of good luck from an appreciative friend." Gruver immigrated to the US from Germany and started a leather bookbinding company in Washington DC. He specialized in leather bindings for government and local organizations.
