Good luck. Pat Buchanan." Safire and Buchanan worked together as speechwriters for the Nixon White House.
Book includes an autographed note signed: "Dear Bill: The 'Palisades' was a playground Northwest of Georgetown - above the river, where the girls from Western and Gordon Junior High used to hang out in the summer. Old Bartlett must have lived in that neighborhood. Best, Pat." Dated 3/22/1989. "Barlett" possibly refers to journalist Charles L. Barlett who introduced President Kennedy to Jaqueline Bouvier.
