Philadelphia: J.W. Bradley, 1859. First Edition. Octavo. 319 pages. Illustrated frontis, with black and white illustrations throughout. Blind-stamped brown boards with spine stamped in gilt.

Boards worn at extremities, with cracking and bumping exposing the corners. Binding secure, though book opens easily between some gatherings with pages 115-125 loose but holding. Bottom half of front free endpaper torn away. Endpapers show extensive pencil doodling, presumably by a juvenile, with some pencil scribbling, marks, and drawings throughout text. Pages with moderate to occasionally heavy foxing, with a few stains.

Includes chapters on meats, soups, pastry, preserves, carving and trussing, and 'giving an entertainment,' among others.
