New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1955. First U.S. Edition. Octavo. 280 pages. Illustrated dust jacket with original $4.00 price present. Book in black boards stamped in blue and red. Yellow topstain.

Dust jacket is rubbed and lightly chipped along edges, with slight fading to spine and toning to edges and a small speckled brown stain to rear panel. Boards are lightly worn at corners, with tugging to head of spine. Front free endpaper is missing a quarter-sized chip to top front corner. Interior a bit toned, but unmarked. Binding is sound.

Frankl had smuggled a copy of the manuscript into the concentration camp he was sent to, but it was eventually confiscated. He reconstructed this work and 'Man's Search for Meaning' on scraps of paper acquired for him from another prisoner, and they were published after World War II.
