Very Good / Very Good. Item #6114
Cambridge: Loeb Classical Library / Harvard University Press, 1914-1925; paginations range from 449pp to 572pp; all volumes indexed except Vol I. Recent printings: 1984-1995. Standard Loeb green dust jackets and bindings.
Dust jackets as new, with only Vol IX showing a little tugging at crown. Bindings pristine. Textblocks unmarred and unmarked, tight, square, clearly unread, with only the previous owner's ex libris rubber stamp (discreetly inked at the bottom edge of each textblock) revealing that the volumes are not brand new.
Conventional Loeb presentation of Greek text on the left paralleled with English translation on the right in each spread. The Dio Cassius Roman history covers almost the same quantity of years as Gibbon—just under a millennium and a half for each—and his ending overlaps Gibbon's beginning by only about 150 years. So put this set before your Gibbon if you're shelving in prequel-sequel order. And you should be.
