Los Angeles: Barbara's Place - Script Specialists Typing and Duplicating / Barwood Films Ltd., 1976. Draft Script for the 1976 film. Red titled wrappers bound with two brass brads. 135 alternating white, blue, and pink pages with multiple insertions totaling 308 pages, printed and paginated on recto only.
One of a handful of screenplays Didion and her husband Dunne collaborated on. The production received mixed reviews, but Streisand received high praise for her superb signing, and the film won the Oscar for Best Original Song for "Evergreen."
This draft dated December 2, 1975 on title page, with many pages throughout marked with various typed revision dates in December '75 and January '76. Didion's and Dunne's names handwritten beneath Pierson's typed authorship attribution on title. Auction records show a First Draft hand dated January 11, 1974 and one copy of the Final Draft Script dated February 17, 1976, placing this draft nearer the end of development
Wraps are lightly worn at edges and around brads with some creasing at corners and a small bump at top edge running through top margin of the interior. Some soiling to edges. Manuscript annotations to pages 41 and 42 with "Arrogant Bastard" underlined at base of page 42. The name of Jules Fisher also written to page 125, but crossed out. Fisher was in charge of concert lighting for the production.
