New York: Charles L. Webster & Company, 1886. First Edition. Octavo; ix, 678pp. All illustrations present. Green cloth-covered boards with gilt and red lettering and decoration. Rear hinge shaky but secure. Small bookplate stating "From Dr. J. C. Hall, Millerstown, Perry Co. Penn" with number and date unfilled on front free endpaper. Engraved frontis has offset to tissue guard and a bit more lightly onto full title page. Occasional toning from a few laid-in cards and newsclippings. Newspaper article "The Story of the Flag" attached to back free endpaper with a small nail. Pages toned but otherwise unmarked. Page binding itself is sound. In rough shape given binding issues with front board, but a workable reading or repair copy. [Nevins I-124, II-73].
