Brown's Corner: E.B. Simonton, 1852. Reprint of the handbook first issued in 1850 by John C. Wells. Small octavo; 168pp. 20+ expert engravings. Solid 20th-century rebinding with brown leather spine, new title label on spine with bright gold stamping, and original covers retained. Boards heavily browned and worn but intact. Missing front free endpaper. Written in ink on front left endpaper: "Town of Madison State of Maine 1852." Moderate foxing throughout, sprinkled with pencil notations in an elegant 19th-century hand.

Fascinating handbook covering treatments for ailments both serious and trivial, with a second section on botanical medicines to concoct at home. Peppered throughout with avuncular moral guidance. Scarce, with only one copy of the 1850 edition and none after located institutionally at time of posting.
