Signed twice by the author, once on front free endpaper with inscription "Very best wishes to any youth D. & Mrs. Goddard may present this book to _______" (with dotted presentation space left blank), then again on half title with inscription "This is a true story of my boyhood days. Grateful to the Rev. D & Mrs. A.C. Goddard." Both instances signed in English and Chinese characters, with red name seal accompanying the first.
Octavo; 106pp +4 ads. Color frontis with five black and white plates, all present. Illustrated dust jacket over beige publishers cloth with blue, red, and black illustration. Jacket shows a large chip to front near head of spine with some associated tearing and creasing, along with a couple smaller tears and chips and a couple light waterspots. Boards are square with some bumping to corners and spine ends. Binding is sound and pages unmarked.
