Octavos; II: [iv], 427 pp, III: [viii], 435 pp +11 pp subscribers list. Stained calf with gilt lettering and ornamentation to spines. Boards rubbed along edges with some light warping. Front board a bit loose and back board nearly detached but still just holding on Volume III. Endpapers foxed and toned with some lighter toning and offsetting throughout, but no marks. Page bindings are sound.
Hailing from a family prominent in American politics, religion, and military -- his grandfather founded the Lutheran church in America and his uncle was the first Speaker of the House and a member of the Continental Congress. Muhlenberg served as a representative for Pennsylvania's 7th and 9th districts in the U.S. House of Representatives, then later as Minister to the Austrian Empire from 1938-1940.
