Front free endpaper is stamped with dedication, "To Bill Verbeck - The bravest of them all with the love and affection of each and every member of the 24th Infantry Division Association." Continues to explain that some signatures may have been forged. Five pages of preliminaries covered in signatures. Verbeck was commander of the 21st Infantry Division and Chief of Staff of the 24th Infantry Division in World War Two. He retired at the rank of General and his papers are held at Syracuse University. Verbeck's bookplate to front pastedown of volume II.

Two oblong quarto volumes. 158 p., 168 + 15 p. Maps and illustrations throughout. Black and grey cloth stamped in gilt. Lacks slipcase.

Boards worn at extremities with brief exposure. General rubbing and scuffing to boards. Bindings are sound and pages foxed at edges but interior unmarked.
