As established by signatures and bookplates in our other Tagore volumes, Josephine, before her marriage to George Gilmer Easley the year prior, was Josephine Beverley Mason, the daughter of Beverley Randolph Mason -- an educator and founder of Guston Hall School for young women in Washington, D.C. and great-grandson of George Mason, author of the Virginia Bill of Rights and namesake of George Mason University.
