London: Jonathan Cape, 1973. First Edition. Bookplate signed by Aldiss loosely laid in at front. Octavo; 184pp. Illustrated dust jacket over black cloth with gilt lettering. Price-clipped jacket shows a closed inch tear at top front near spine, with some light scuffing along folds and spine ends. Boards are square, with a light bumping to corners. Opens easily at covers and between gatherings, but binding is holding soundly. Shallow 2" x .25" section torn away at bottom of back free endpaper, with no loss to text. Pages slightly toned but unmarked.
Basis for the 1990 Roger Corman film of the same name (his last as director, at time of writing), starring John Hurt, Raul Julia, and Bridget Fonda.
