New York: Random House, 1961. Stated First Printing. Signed without inscription on front free endpaper by Henri Coulette on tipped-in card and by Donald Justice and Paul Engle beneath. Octavo; xxxvii, 600pp. Illustrated dust jacket with $6.50 price intact; book in lightly-speckled white cloth with orange lettering. Jacket shows a few shallow, clean tears at folds, with toning along top edge and down spine and a few stray smudges to surface. Title lettering almost completely faded away on spine, but clear on front. Opens easily to title page with a crack starting to top inch along gutter, but binding is sound. Pages unmarked.

Anthology includes works by Flannery O'Connor, Richard Power, Jean Stafford, Wallace Stenger, Anthony Hecht, Philip Levine, W.D. Snodgrass, Mona Van Duyn, and Tennessee Williams, among many others.
