London: Chapman and Hall, Ltd., 1932. First Edition, published October 1932. Small octavo (7.5" x 5"); 303 pp. Original white dust jacket with text in black and illustration in red. Black and red decorative cloth binding with title in gilt on spine. Black and white map frontispiece depicts the fictitious Azanian Empire where the story takes place.

Dust jacket has edgewear, including several small closed tears and chips near bottom of spine. Some light spotting and a slightly darker spot on front above the letter B, text is unaffected. Edges foxed and spine slightly shelf-cocked. Scarce with a dust jacket, this is a nice copy of Waugh's satirical third novel, which "skewers attempts to impose European customs and beliefs upon so-called primitive peoples."[Britannica online].
