"One of the most remarkable features of the fossil remains of the Connecticut valley is the dearth of actual bones and the marvelous abundance of footprints."

Triassic Life of the Connecticut Valley (State of Connecticut: State Geological and Natural History Survey Bulletin No. 24)

Hartford: State Geological and Natural History Survey of Connecticut, 1915. Very Good. Item #11236

Hartford: State Geological and Natural History Survey of Connecticut, 1915. First Edition. Octavo (23x15x2.5cm); [viii] + 285pp, including bibliography and index. Three maps, 12 plates, 126 figures, all present.

Original utilitarian gray card governmental covers over sewn gatherings. Text proper is preceded by three pages listing Connecticut bulletins from the same series, and two pre-printed pages of excisable catalog slips.

Card covers age-toned, showing respectful use and wear. Card spine slightly browned, and creased; cover and textblock corners slightly abraded—but solidly preserved in all aspects. Tipped-in maps all present, and in robust condition without discoloration or misfolds; all tipped-in plates of dinosaur recreations present. Figures embedded within text are clearly printed.

Richard Swann Lull was Sterling Professor at Yale University, and the famous espouser of a "non-Darwinian" theory of evolution—though his detour from core Darwinianism is more a matter of emphasis and verbiage than outright rejection.
