Very Good / Very Good. Item #11368
Los Angeles and Cambridge: The Museum of Contemporary Art and the MIT Press, 2007. First Edition. Quarto (27x23x4cm); 512pp, including chronology and exhibition checklist. Illustrated with art reproductions, media samples, and reference and background images throughout.
Photographic dustjacket. Boards in slightly rosé-ified écru with purple lettering on spine and front panel. Thick textblock in sewn gatherings alternates between ~100pp of white stock, then ~100pp of écru stock, and back again, and then back yet again.
Despite the expertise of the publishers, the board material was too lightweight for the mass of the textblock, resulting (in our copy) in two neat vertical tears (about 3cm each) at the vertical folds of the spine crown, transferred at the moment of tugging to the dustjacket folds as well. The tears are somewhat visible in our photo, and now protected behind mylar. Despite this sole flaw, the volume survives in remarkably good condition.
This is the catalog of the show at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, held from 4 March to 16 July 2007, and traveling afterward to Washington, D.C., Long Island City, and Vancouver.
