Albee's two-act play about a wife and her husband's mistress waiting together for the man they both love to die. The play, directed by John Gielgud, premiered at the Martin Beck Theatre on Broadway in March of 1971, with Tandy as the wife and Dewhurst as the mistress. Dewhurst was nominated for the Best Actress Tony Award and won the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Performance for her role.
