Octavo; xiv, 324pp. Photo plates throughout. Publisher's orange cloth with black lettering and illustration. Boards bumped and nudged at spine ends with a bit of fraying at head, showing a few smudges and scuffs to surface and some fading / soiling to spine. Some foxing and toning to plates and opposite, with a dampstain at top corner of frontis and title page, not touching text or illustration. Opens easily between gatherings, but binding is still holding. Additional gift inscription from original signee to his nephew in pencil above author's inscription, else pages unmarked.
Floyd L. Darrow was long-time science teacher, as well as science editor for St. Nicholas Magazine.
