Boston: Houghton Mifflin Company, 1924. Salesman's Dummy. Octavo (8.25" x 5.5"); [ii], [18pp], +[8pp] ads. Twelve illustrations (including frontis) with caption overlays. Publisher's black cloth with gilt lettering to front and gilt top page edges. Binding samples (three spines and one full front cover with inset photogravure portrait) attached to pastedowns. Housed in a (likely custom-made) slipcase with paper spine label. Front and back boards a bit bowed, with light nudges at corners and spine ends and a few faint superficial scratches to cloth. Binding is sound and pages unmarked.

Salesman's dummy for the Definitive Edition of Houghton Mifflin's The Writings of Rafael Sabatini, including a couple sample pages each from Scaramouche, The Sea-Hawk, Captain Blood, Fortune's Fool, and The Historical Nights' Entertainment, with sample photogravure plates a series prospectus, and extracts from reviews praising Sabatini ("The Modern Dumas"). The prospectus notes the edition would be comprised of 21 volumes ending with Bellarion, though Knight and Darley note the series ended up as 34 total, published between 1924 and 1937.
