A worn but serviceable set of the work Roosevelt referred to as his magnum opus. In a letter to his publisher in 1890, Roosevelt wrote that his literary reputation would depend on it. The work was originally published as a two-volume set in 1889, expanded in the 1890s to four, and here reprinted in six, along with two other 1900 editions, as his popularity grew.
