Johannesburg: Architectural Student's Society /University of the Witwatersrand, 1937. First Edition, Limited to 100 copies. Quarto (30cm.); original cream card wrappers printed in brown, yapp edges; [4],103pp.; one mounted color plate, illus. in text throughout, one other in color. Extremities a bit chipped and toned with brief but crude repair to upper cover fore-edge, wrappers a bit soiled, else Very Good, internally fine. Signed by all seven contributors on colophon. Additionally inscribed on front free endpaper by the mother of the Congress's chairman Kurt Jonas on the occasion of his death.

Three-day symposium, each day devoted to a single topic, painting, photography, and architecture. Among the contributors were the noted Dutch-born South African psychiatrist and professor at the University Simon Biesheuvel on "Realising the Abstract: Perception," his talk accompanied by John Fassler's "Realising the Abstract: Creation." The final day's talks on architecture featured the influential South African architect Rex Martienssen on "Imposing the Abstract on Nature: Man in Space," and B.H. South's "Imposing the Abstrat on Nature: The Townplanner--Le Corbusier." Given the limited print run this work quite scarce, OCLC locating no copies in North America as of July, 2020.
