Catalog of dye samples issued by the venerable Swiss chemical company of J.R. Geigy, founded ca. 1758 by Johann Rudolf. Shortly after this volume was issued the company entered the pharmaceutical business, eventually merging with Ciba AG in 1971 to form Ciba-Geigy. The present work issued for the company's customers "to guide them in the use and about the properties of our wool colours...It has been our aim to make this little work as short, and at the same time, as lucid as possible." The opening pages provide instructions in using their product, including the dissolving of dyestuffs before use. The bulk of the work organized into tables separated by wool sample, beginning with a short and vivid description ("cheapest greenish yellow"; "the Erioglaucines fastest to light"; "of good evenness and particularly well suited for navy blues"). These are followed by instructions in dyeing cotton, wool, or silk, degrees of fastness to shrinking, discharging properties, etc. OCLC lists a number of similar titles as of December, 2021, none matching pagination of this edition.
