"When I see a Book well written for the Instruction of Mankind, I always hope it will spread its good Influences as far and wide as it finds its Readers" (from Isaac Watts' Preface, p. [vii]). Indeed, this is the first appearance in colonial New England of two works, the first authored, the second translated, by the English nonconformist minister and educator John Jennings (ca. 1687-1723). "Two Discourses" went on to appear in seven editions by the mid 1760s.
