Begins with a dedication to William Dummer, who served as lieutenant governor of the Province of Massachusetts Bay from 1716 to 1730.
Foxcroft weaves politics and theology throughout his address, with praise for God's judgment, "He is an Universal & Everlasting Judge... the Judge of Quick & Dead, of Men & Angels. He rides in Circuit thro' the Heavens, and his Eyes run to and fro in all the Earth: beholding the Evil & Good, dispensing Punishments and Rewards."
The author also touches upon the Reformation, the Hanoverian Succession, and a poetic flourish for Catherine I of Russia... "And now King George, that most renowned Hero of the Age is dead, as well as an unhappy Russian Empress. Their breath was alike in their nostrils: It went forth and they are fallen a common Prey to devouring Worms."
