Leather a bit dried and scuffed along spine margins, bottom textblock edge speckled, 1802 gift inscription to front free endpaper, else a Very Good copy, internally clean and sound.
The author's epic poem spanning both North and South America and ending on an optimistic note regarding the future of American arts, science, and international trade in a post-Revolutionary War era. This copy includes the list of subscribers in rear, though these are nowhere near as impressive as the first edition's, which boasted George Washington and Benjamin Franklin. An English edition was issued the same year, omitting the dedication to the French King Louis XVI.
