Two volumes; octavos; publisher's purple blind-ruled cloth, gilt-lettered spines, brown glazed endpapers; xviii,[2],514; 504pp.; engraved portrait frontispiece at head of Vol. I, Vol. II extra-illustrated with two mounted mid-20th century plates. Spines uniformly sunned (as usual), though gilt remains unfaded, light to moderate spotting to textblocks, 20th century ownership rubberstamp to front pastedowns, portion of the "Atlantic Monthly," January, 1864, neatly bound in rear of Vol. I, newsclipping tipped to front pastedown of Vol. II. Overall a Very Good and still quite attractive set.
