Touch of rubbing to boards. Light chipping and soiling to title page, light spotting and smudging throughout but text legible throughout. Scarce in retail and only seen at auction a handful of time in last fifty years.

Mayhew was known to propagate liberal theories of government in to his sermons, defending civil disobedience and defending civil liberties. John Adams regarded Mayhew highly, calling him a "transcendent genius" and further claiming "To draw the character of Mayhew, would be to transcribe a dozen volumes."
