By Francis Beeding (pseud. John Leslie Palmer) comes a tale of murder and suspense:
Valerie Beauchamp, alias Vera Brown, is a successful novelist of trashy romance novels who has recently found love in the form of a mysterious paramour who has swept her off her feet with his love letters. However, Valerie has just found out that her suitor is not only not a real person, but a joke concocted by her so-called friends.
To get back at them Valerie decides to add a tontine to her will, the final survivor to inherit a fortune in the end. But before Valerie can enact her plan she is found brutally murdered. And soon after her former friends find themselves the next targets.
