Staining with residue on end papers, resulting foxing on following pages. Illustrated frontispiece cleanly separated from binding, but present. Water stain along fore- and bottom edges of textblock, bleeding occasionally onto interior pages, but not touching text or illustrations, else pages unmarked. The classic fantasy/sci-fi story by Arthur Conan Doyle, the first to star the character Professor George Edward Challenger. Inspiration for the once lost silent film adaptation from 1925 (rediscovered in the 1990s), featuring the stop-motion artistry of Willis O'Brien, a forerunner of his work on King Kong (1933).
