Oyster Bay, NY: [s.i.], 1908-1909. Two signed autograph letters from First Lady Edith Kermit Roosevelt to a “Mrs. Henry.” Letters on blue stock (approx. 10.75” x 6.75”), with "Oyster Bay, Long Island, NY" and "Sagamore Hill" blindstamped to top, and envelopes postmarked July 20, 1908 and March 6, 1909, the latter just two days after the end of Theodore Roosevelt's Presidential terms. Each letter folded twice with manuscript writing filling a single side. In them Roosevelt thanks Mrs. Henry (the wife of an admiral) for gifts of diamonds and of a book, mentions that it's a dry hot summer, and that the house is full of growing people. Overall a Very Good pair of letters from Roosevelt, known for elevating the position of First Lady during her tenure.
