First Edition. Very Good / Very Good. Item #4131
New York: Coward, McCann, and Geoghegan, 1976. First Edition, signed by Donald Hall and Dock Ellis with brief inscriptions on front free endpaper.
Octavo; 254pp. Printed dustjacket over black paper-covered boards with purple cloth spine and gilt lettering. Ex-library copy but remarkably free of library markings, with only a withdrawn stamp on rear free endpaper, a blacked-out call number at bottom of title page, and abrasions to pastedowns where jacket was previously glued down, but no pockets or other additions. Jacket rubbed along edges with a few light creases, and some abrasions at edges of flaps from aforementioned pasteing down.
A quite unusual volume, pairing up former Poet Laureate Donald Hall and the outspoken baseball player Dock Ellis, who infamously pitched a no-hitter on LSD. At the time of this writing, only one copy of the hardback available in retail, and no copies available signed.
