Letter is on Ackerman's stationery and begins, "I've just been writing about the immune system, and it made me think fondly of you and realize how long its been since we've been in touch. Hope you and yours are well." Letter goes on to thank Safire for nominating her for the Pulitzer panel, to discuss her research on neuroscience for an upcoming book, and proposes lunch dates in New York.
