Uniformly bound in 1/3 red leather and red cloth-covered boards with gilt lettering, gilt top edges, and patterned endpapers. Bookplate of author, columnist, and former presidential speechwriter William Safire on front pastedown in each volume. Boards are all sturdy and square with very faint shelfwear and light bumping to a few corners. Small dampstains to page edges at top front fore-edge in each volume, but not encroaching into pages themselves. Bindings are sound and pages unmarked. From the personal library of William Safire.
