Red leather boards with gilt emblem of Broadstairs College School on front, gilt border and spine ornamentation, and gilt dentelles to turn-ins. Marbled page edges and endpapers. Prize bookplate on front pastedown to G. Miles for "General Excellence" from Christmas 1885. Boards with light shelfwear and some scuffing down spine and two small chips to crown. Binding is sound.
Stories were chosen by Dobson with the intention of cultivating an appreciation in youth for the works of Sir Walter Scott. Among the selections are works on Macbeth, Robin Hood, and the execution of Queen Mary.
