Brown calf binding on spine with blue marbled paper over boards. Letter F stamped in gold on spine. Boards rubbed on edges. Top of spine is chipped. Front and back hinges starting. Binding is sound. Stamp on title page states: "American Antiquarian Society, Worcester, Mass." Margin notation (a thin line) made in ink on page 136. Some foxing. Pages are otherwise clean and unmarked. This copy belonged to New York Times journalist and language expert William Safire.
