Signed by author on half title to fellow journalist William Safire with inscription, "For William Safire - / Whose facility in / this columnar racket I / envy - and admire. / Arthur Krock / Washington, DC. / April 27, 1973."

Krock was the dean of Washington newsmen, covering 11 Presidents and winning two Pulitzer prizes. Laid in at rear is a print-out of a 2008 email from Aaron Retica of the New York Times to Safire, mentioning a 1938 Time Article in which Krock played a role.

Unclipped jacket is moderately rubbed along edges with a few very small closed tears. Grey boards in black cloth with spine stamped in white. Faded at spine ends. Binding is sound and pages unmarked.
