Very Good / Good. Item #5496
New York: Macmillan Company, 1940. Later printing. Quarto. 395 pages. Signed by Berle to economist Herbert J. Cummings on front free endpaper with inscription, "For Herbert Cummings / with all good wishes / for glorious adventure / and safe return / Adolf Berle / February 15, 1942."
Graphic dust jacket with original "$3.75" price present is heavily chipped along edges, especially at spine ends, with two five inch tears along front flap and front joint. Faded at spine. Despite flaws, jacket is intact and now housed in a mylar cover.
Maroon cloth with spine and front cover in gilt. Light wear to edges and spine ends a bit nudged. Binding is sound. Endpapers are toned. Ownership inscription of "Herbert J. Cummings," to front pastedown, and cutout of 1988 review of the book crudely taped to rear free endpaper. Pages otherwise unmarked.
