New York: T. W. Strong, 1855. Stated 33rd edition, much enlarged and improved. 15.5 x 10 cm; 467 pp. followed by one page of advertisements. Ten black and white illustrations and three color plates. Blind-stamped green cloth binding with text in gold on spine. Corners of cover rubbed through to board, some fraying to head and foot of spine. Bookseller label on top edge of front pastedown for "John P. Hunt, Books, Stationery & Cheap Publications" in Pittsburg, Pa. Note on front flyleaf states in pencil; "A. B. C. Pittsburg, Pa. Feb 28, 1865." Binding shaken but sound. Superficial insect damage to inner top corner of first four leaves, not involving text. A handful of pages have been dog-eared. Vast majority of pages are clean and unmarked.
