Very Good. Item #5952
Toronto: Canadian Scholars' Press, 1994. First Edition. Signed postcard from Nuessel to journalist William Safire taped inside front cover.
Octavo; 146pp +2 ads. Printed paper wraps. Covers lightly shelfworn but with no chips, tears, or marks. Some underlining throughout, with handwritten notes taking up most of final blank page. Binding is sound.
In the card, Nuessel thanks Safire for citing him in the previous day's "On Language" column. The installment, titled "Or What?" considers the phrase, and cites Nuessel's offering that "The or suggests an option...and the what functions as a type of pronoun, standing for a deleted clause -- as in 'Is this fun or is something else fun?' -- with an ironic tone implied."
