Very Good / Very Good. Item #5957
Oxford: Oxford University Press, 2004. Limited Edition. Signed by the author without inscription and numbered 769 of 1000 on full title.
Octavo; x, 564pp. Blue cloth-covered boards with gilt lettering and ornamentation. Gilt page edges and printed marbled endpapers. Housed in paper-covered box with illustration from original dust jacket. Book itself is a 7th printing by numberline, so it appears the signed/limited run was perhaps conceived of a bit after the book's initial paperback and then hardcover publication, perhaps when the book won the Pulitzer.
Boards are sturdy and square with very light bumping to spine ends. No dust jacket, as issued in this boxed format. Binding is sound and pages unmarked. Box is sturdy with a bit of wear and rubbing near bottom edge, but no splits or marks.
This copy from the personal library of journalist William Safire, but with no ownership marks or plates.
