Very Good. Item #6277
New York: The Magicians' League of America, 1933. Presumed First Edition. Octavo. 144 + [i] pp. Illustrations throughout. Blue boards with orange lettering. Lacks dust jacket. Cards for tricks in glassine predominantly intact; additional materials (paper of varying color, thickness, and use) for tricks of deception and divination laid and tipped in throughout.
Of special note are two hand-written recipes/charms at rear free endpaper and rear pastedown, the first for "Invisible Writing," and the second "To Be Impervious to Fire." We haven't tried either, but the second includes Borax so we're fairly certain of its efficacy.
Boards now faded to an uneven gray/orange situation and are chipped, cracked, and worn. Binding is cracked at hinges but holding. Interior is largely unmarked, though some of the "tricks of the trade" have been used, cut, handled, and worn.
