Heavy wear at extremities, spine ends frayed, corners bumped with exposure at bottom. General scuffing. Cracked at hinges, with heavier wear to rear pastedown. Binding nevertheless sound. A very good, serviceable copy.

An account of the 1875 Whiskey Ring scandal, a domino of bribes and corruption stretching from distillers and shopkeepers all the way up to high ranking members of government. While not directly involved, the associations with members of his staff stirred sentiments of corruption at the end of Grant's presidency.
