Brooklyn: Printed for the Association, 1859-1866. First Editions. Five volumes; octavo (ca. 23cm.); all bound in wrappers printed within decorative border. Publication sequence includes the First-Fourth reports (1859-1862) and the Eighth report (1866). Contents include the Association's charter as delineated in the first annual report; the subsequent reports providing a list of officers and a short description of the year's budget and acquisitions. In 1860 the Library acquired 2860 volumes, including "Watts' Bibliotheca Britannica" and "Pinkerton's Collection of Voyages and Travels," in 17 volumes, though by the start of the Civil War the rate of accrual had drastically slowed.
