Sky-Pilot Cowboy

New York: D. Appleton-Century Company, Inc., 1940. Very Good / Good. Item #7107

New York: D. Appleton-Century Company, Inc., 1940. Reprint in volume form of serialized novel "The Owlhunt Sky-Pilot." Inscribed and signed on front free endpaper: "Del Mar, Calif. July, 1943 // For Eugene T. Lydanne, Father of Lieutenant 'Gene Lydanne, U.S.N. whom I am proud to call my friend. Mighty Sincerely, Walt Coburn." Two unidentifed photographs laid in. Octavo; 266pp. Pictorial dustjacket. Brown cloth with gilt lettering on spine and front panel.

Unclipped, slightly soiled dust jacket has chips missing at crown and foot of jacket spine; some spine fading; weakened jacket folds strengthened in the past with scotch tape on reverse—the whole now in protective mylar. Minor scuffing to cloth on board and spine edges. Joints and hinges solid; textblock unmarked apart from inscription.

The two laid-in photographs have not been identified, but neither of the men in them, per our image searches, seems to be either of the Lydannes or Coburn. All three parties in the photos, however, have the good looks and stylish air of Hollywood denizens.

There is no airplane in this novel. The sky-pilot in question is a cowboy preacher, saving cowboy souls.

Price: $650.00
