Pencil and ink ownership inscription of William McSherry (1799-1839), 18th president of Georgetown University (then Georgetown College) from 1837 until his death two years later. McSherry left substantial but faint and soiled pencil notes on the rear free endpaper in regards to this controversial novel by the "cheerfully pagan" Catholic-born Irish lyricist Thomas Moore (1779-1852).
