Spine ends a bit rubbed, corners bumped with brief exposure, contemporary gift inscription to front pastedown, else Very Good, contents fine. Inscribed and signed by the editor on front free endpaper: "Love is the one treasure that we increase unto ourselves by giving / Michael Monahan / March, 1916."
Originally published under the title The Papyrus, the little magazine The Phoenix sported the banner "A Magazine of Individuality" and featured short stories and poetry by a myriad of diverse authors. This bound volume includes works by Frank Harris, Lafcadio Hearn, Guy de Maupassant, Alphonse Daudet, and others, though each issue invariably includes multiple essays by the editor.
