Very Good. Item #9025

Genevæ: Sumptibus & Typis Samuelis Chouët, 1659. Editio novissima prioribus accuratior & emendatior. Quarto (25.5cm.); full contemporary sheep, gilt spine in six compartments, marbled endpapers; mixed pagination (collated thus: ¶4 A-N8 O4 P1 2A-3G8 2A-2T8 2V7 3A-3Y8 3Z3 A-M8 N4); added engraved title page, woodcut initials and head- and tail-pieces, text almost entirely printed in double column.

Leather quite scuffed with exposure at corners and shallow loss at spine ends, occasional contemporary annotations in margins, possibly by a C.F. Lelarge, "Doctor Sorbonicus" (ownership inscription on title page); manuscript annotations most notable on recto of 3C1, where the text imprint of the bottom nine lines of the second column were printed too faintly and the reader has filled in the blank in manuscript. Overall Very Good, internally sound.

A wonderful copy of an uncommon edition; OCLC notes a handful of holdings in Canada in Europe as of March, 2021, none in the United States.

Price: $450.00
