Chicago: University of Chicago Press, 1938. First Edition. Signed and inscribed on ffep: "To my friend Morris Hansen who made my first job so interesting and instructive. Jane Moore." Octavo (23.5x16x1.5cm); xx + 140pp, including index. Dust jacket in gray laid paper, printed in green. Volume in sage-gray cloth with red stamping on spine and front panel, including a nifty little emblem for cityward displacement.
Dustjacket shows sunning on all edges, with spine browned, chips missing at jacket crown and foot. Ownership signature of previous owner (the recipient of the inscription) at top edge of jacket front. Volume itself sunned and tanned at edges and on spine; slight spine and panel edgewear.
Textblock and endpapers show age-tanning, but, apart from author's inscription, the textblock is unmarred and unmarked. Morris H. Hansen (1910-1990), the volume’s previous owner, to whom the volume is inscribed, was a prominent and innovative statistician with the U.S. Census Bureau in Washington, D.C.
